Venice experiences hot summers, and sometimes the temperature rises to the extent of making the heat suffocating and winters are so cold that temperature drops a few degrees below zero and the cold is too unpleasant. Sometimes winter is accompanied by snow.

Between November and January the city is full of mist and it gets flooded, the vaporetti and public service is suspended because of this, during this time the city is quiet compared to itself during the most visited months.

Venice floods are caused by a factor called "acqua alta" meaning high water or high tide, this is caused by certain weather conditions. This event occurs in many parts of the world, but Venice has a visible result for the way in the city. This phenomenon should be an inconvenience for your trip but it's nice to see some parts of the city covered by water as in the case of Plaza San Marcos.
