Venice Transport: Gondolas

In the past the Gondolas were the unique transportation to go from one place to another place in Venice, but now with the Vaporetti and Traghetti that service is not required. However you can find some Gondolas if you want to make a classic ride through the Venice canals and if you want to pay the high price. A Gondola ride is like a trip on a luxury car but unlike cars, Gondolas do it along the Grand Canal.

Gondolas are very expensive because they are traditional hand- built; Gondolas are made up of seven wood pieces ornamented with handmade things. Gondoliers have an extensive preparation before getting their gondolier license. Every gondolier has knowledge about history and culture therefore they can be good tourist guides.

There are two types of gondolas which are: the well-preserved ones and the simple Gondolas. Costs for a Gondola ride vary because there are two types of trip: with serenade or without it. The first one costs €80, for about six people for 40 minutes and you have to pay €40 extra if you want twenty minutes extra. It is for sure that a serenade included is more expensive than without it, it costs approximately €42 per person for 50 minutes.
