Getting VeronaEasy and cheap to arrive to Verona, and small enough to get around, Verona is prized with a relative absence of transport problems. At the crossroads of major north-south and east-west routes it's also exceptionally well-connected to the rest of Italy, making it an ideal stepping stone for a variety of itineraries. By car, bus: Verona is easily reached by taking the A4 Motorway SERENISSIMA (Milan/Venice, exit for the city centre: Verona Sud) or by taking the A22 Motorway Brennero-Modena (exit: Verona Nord). For exploring the mountains and countryside around the city, hiring a car might be the best option as public transport is patchy. By train: Overland, the train journey from Northern Europe is long but spectacular, as is the drive. The main railway station is VERONA PORTA NUOVA, which is at the crossroads of both the Milan-Venice line and the Brennero-Rome line. There are direct trains and InterCity trains from all the main railwy stations in the North of Italy throughout the day (for train information: Tel: 147-888088 from 7.00 am to 9.00 pm). By plane: Verona's international airport CATULLO in Villafranca (Tel: 0458095666, from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm) is located approximately 10 Km S-W of the city centre. There is a shuttle bus service to and from the airport every 20 minutes approx. from 6.10 am to 11.30 pm (for information Tel: 0458004129). The airport bus terminal is outside Porta Nuova Railway Station. (For flight information: Tel: 8095666 from 6.00 am to 11.30 pm). Distances from Verona by motorways: Trento km. 103 Bolzano km. 157 Vicenza km. 51 Venice km. 114 Brescia km. 68 Milan km. 161 Bologna km. 142 Florence km. 230 |
