Venice Travel Guide

Taxis

The fastest way to get around Venice is by water taxi. When it rains, taxis are generally convenient since they have a closed cabin. You can get a taxi at one of the water taxi ranks, or have the hotel call it for you. Often you'll be able to pay for the taxi at the hotel. Extra is charged for luggage, night service as well as waiting time. Italian taxi drivers do not expect a tip.

If you wish to make a special trip and can spend a bit more, or if you're travelling in a group of five or more, the water taxi can be the best option to travel around Venice. Also it is the best way to begin your holiday. You'll get off very close to the apartment, travelling comfortably. Unfortunately, water-taxis in Venice do are very expensive.

The expected rate for a ride from the airport to San Marco (around 30 minutes) is about EUR 80,00, for four people and four luggage (water-taxis have meters). There are some surcharges (night surcharge between 10pm and 7am and surcharge for each piece of luggage and person over the fourth).

Venice Guide and Boat is a new water taxi facility aimed at offering first-class transfer services and the most comfortable and elegant boats for boat tours of Venice and its Lagoon. Our licensed Water Taxis are piloted by competent and highly-qualified personnel who speak English and can provide with useful information to make your stay in Venice more pleasant.

There are three ways of getting a taxi: go to one of the main stands (in front of the Piazzetta and at the airport), find one in the process of disgorging its passengers, or call one by phone (Tel: 041.522.2303, 041.522.8538 or 041.523.2473).
