Genoa is a seaport and the capital city of the Province of Genoa and the region of Liguria. Genoa is located in the north of Italy, between the Liguria Sea and the Apennine Mountains; Genoa covers an area of 243 square kilometers (151 sq miles).
The municipality reaches places beyond the watershed of the Apennines in the western (in correspondence of the river Stura) and comes directly to border the region of Piedmont in southern (City Bosio).
The territory of Genoa is divided into 5 main areas: the centre, the west, the east, the Polcevera and the Bisagno Valley.
