Genoa, Genova in Italian and Zea in Genoese and Ligurian, is located in north-west Italy; itís the largest city on the Gulf of Genoa coast, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Genoa is the Capital of Genoa province and Liguria region. This is one of the most beautiful cities and it is considered the most important seaport in Italy and one of the most important in the Mediterranean Sea because this city has been united to its port and marine activities since it was created. There are around 610 830 inhabitants in Genoa. Genoa is divided into 25 districts and 71 urbanity units.

The richness of the city resides in its art, gastronomy, history, music and architecture and one of the most important representatives in Italian history was born in this Port city, Cristobal Colon, so if you visit Genoa you will find many attractions about him. Nowadays the city is an excellent place to visit during holidays.

Genoa was a settlement in ancient times. The city was destroyed by Carthaginians in 209 B.C. then it was rebuilt by Romans. When Roman Empire declined, Genoa was conquered by Byzantines, Lombard and Franks. Genoa, Pisa, Venice and Amalfi became into Maritime Republics in the Middle Age. Genoa Republic was a part of The France Empire in 1815, when the Kingdom of Sardinia included Lingurian Republic and Genoa to its territory. In 19th century, Genoa Port was surrounded by industrial buildings and factories. Genoa port recovered its relevance with the Alpine tunnel construction.
