Genoa Aquarium

Genoa aquarium is the largest aquarium in Italy and the second largest in Europe after the Oceanographic in Valencia, Spain; it is one of the most important touristic attractions together with Genoa Cathedral and the historical center; itís located in Spinola, Old Port, near Piazza del Principe.

There are more than 71 pools, which reproduce the Mediterranean, rain forests, oceans, poles and tropical habitats to make the life and reproduction of more than 800 species possible; you will be able to immerse your hands into 19 of these pools. There are animals such as: sharks, turtles, penguins, dolphins, stingrays, seals, amphibians and jellyfish and 10 000 animal specimens. The Aquarium has a special section for children: Finding Nemo.

There are 100 pools that tourist canít see because there are animals recovering from the trip and healing if it is necessary. There are 100 people working as veterinarians and biologists. Every pool is controlled by a large number of computers, which control the state of the water.

The tour lasts two-and-half hours and the aquarium opens every day of the year.
