Tuscany is a beautiful region of Italy; itís located in the center of the country, Florence is the capital of Tuscany, and it has other cities like Arezzo, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena. Tuscany is bordered northwest by Liguria, north by Emilia-RomaŮa, east by Marcas and Umbria and south by Lacio. There are 120 nature reserves so it has a variety of landscapes.

The Etruscans were the first civilization to have lived there until 315 BC when the Roman Empire conquered this region. Romans established the cities of Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Siena. Longobardos arrived in the VI century and they instituted their capital in Lucca, then Charlemagne became Lucca in the country of Lucca in the VIII century. The Pope Clemente VII and Charles V king of Spain named Alejandro Medicis the first ruler of this region. This region was a cultural center since the middle ages.

Tuscany has many places of interest for tourists such as Florence. When one travels to Tuscany, one can see its natural beauty so itís the perfect place to do rural tourism. It is perfect to travel to Tuscany all year round but spring is the best time because one can enjoy the green fields.

Tuscan cuisine is simple; the handmade spaghetti, called pici, is the main dish there, the most famous bottle of wine is Chianti. Deserts such as cantucci di Prato are preferred by people.

This region is known worldwide because it has many monuments, the most famous monument is maybe the Tower of Pisa. This region is quiet so tourists wonít have trouble staying there. There are many different performances like concerts, theater shows, ballet presentations, etc. Carnevale di Viareggio is a special date when everyone goes to a costume party.
